I do have that information if anyone does need it, its really straight forward and works for other models to but menus screens are slightly different.

Hi there,
In reply to that last comment posted by Robin, thats quite true the sound is very quite this is done for a reason, because of damaging your hearing and Sony The manufacturers have locked the volume of all EU/UK version of the HD player so you cant get the best out of your player. But fear not as theres always a way round things……you can now unlock this restriction with no extra tools whatsoever. There are secret menus in the unit, which only the engineers know about.
Im just letting people know there is information on how to do this available.

yep it does, charlie:) its the only thing its usefull for! cuz the software that you HAVE to use, to hear the songs on the device, pretty much sucks, and ruins the .. yep, belive it or not, the volume! i cant friggin hear my music, wish i went creative, apple, asono.. heck, whatever.
