I agree that device convergence is here now but there is no cell phone with a UI as smooth and easy as the iPod, nor as much storage space. I have an Audiovox 5600, and it does pretty much everything, but it’s slow as hell and not as intuitive as an iPod.
The video part is fairly useless at the rez it offers up, even through the video-out port. I think they had to take this step eventually, it’s just unfortunate that it isn’t at least twice the resolution. And that there isn’t a phone and 5 megapixel camera built in.

It was mentioned before, but don’t you see the synergy? iTunes 5 brought podcasts to the masses. The iMac now has a built in isight… it’s for this new videocast trend! It’s the new hot thing, it’s just not out yet… but really was a gui based os the trend when apple introduced the Macintosh and everyone saw why 1984 wasn’t like 1984?!

Theres no way i would entertain getting one, until is has your phone built in. Surely its no too much to ask to have a phone with a HD that can play music a videos!

Video PodCasting will i think be a big driver of useage on this device.
As will adult content – subscription based services that distribute video content as soon as it becomes availalble will, I susect lap this up.

I don’t think that the video iPod is as much of a big deal as the fact that Apple is now selling TV shows and movie shorts via iTunes. Sure it is limited in resolution and selection right now, but it will grow, just like iTMS did. This could be a baby step into offering full movies (with DRM), or even movie rentals all online. Maybe even Pixar uses Apple instead of using Disney (assuming they don’t patch things up).
Just like the new iMac, all of these products show a lot of potential — in my opinion.
