Love your blog, have been checking on it here and there. But would like to know more about the specs of your home automation project. Do you have a list of the items that you used. software and what not. There is a lot to learn with home automation and would love to hear a little bit more about the specs you are running.

I am currently building a duplex in Edmonton, Alberta and we currently have the foundation poured in.
I am quite interested in the idea of the home automation, even more so with the customization options.
Would be quite interested to figure out how to include electricity usage and water usage as well. Have you looked into this as well ?
Is there any updates on your project ?

Will you have support for Insteon devices? They seem much more robust than x10 and HAI does not support. I have an Omnipro running nearly everything, including my hybrid hydronic heating consisting of in concrete downstairs and forced air off hydronic upstairs from a Canadian company called Hi Velocity. HAI interface is crude at best and could really benefit from Mac like interface. I recognize the Viewsonic touch panels and was a beta tester some time back. They were awfully slow as remote devices.

I haven’t started my automation system yet aside from home theater and whole house x10, but I’m willing to be a guinnea pig for the Mac side. If you want to walk me through setting things up I will buy whatever you recommend and buy your software and provide feed back.

TV,
V1 will be a Windows only app, much like Snaplink but more feature rich.
Following version will enable iPhone (web/AJAX), WM6 (native), OSX* (native), etc. This all started with me wanting to have the perfect UI/UX for my system and I think others want one too.
I’ve got all the architecture pretty much done… this include security models, etc. Now, it’s about focusing and releasing something.
* I’m trying to see how hard it will be to port my stuff to OSX… just downloaded XCODE yesterday…
I will be releasing more details soon…

Don’t know if you mentioned it, but what panels are you using?
Also:
Will your software work on OSX?
Can you interact with it via the internet (AJAX?) from an Iphone/Nokia 700/800 and the like?
I didn’t see you specifically mention controlling video, can I assume it will?
