MAJOR CORRECTION: The sugar in throwback that has cuased this food allergy sufferer gastritis is BEAT sugar NOT CANE!! Sugar cane is fine and goes down easily. The Mexican Coke available here in bulk at Sam's Club is the best softdrink out there and it has CANE SUGAR. Pepsi Throwback is available in Houston at Krogers' on West Gray in the 77019 area and Randle's downtown store. I'm disappointed that Pepsi has decided to go with a sugar blend rather than pure CANE. I'll take Throwback and Natural off my shopping list.

In Houston, TX, we are finally able to purchase Pepsi Throwback. Why do I get the feeling Pepsi is sneaking around with this product afraid to aggravate the big corn? Surely Pepsi knows the natural sugar drinks have limited appeal and the majority of us cola-holics will continue to drink HFCS products in restaurants. Throwback contains two types of sugars: beet & cane. If you have food allergies like I do be leary of Pepsi Throwback. There is something in the cane sugar that sends my digestive track into fits. I didn't realize this was happening until I started looking for a cause for my discomfort. Using elimination, I determined it is the cane sugar in throwback. Don't get me wrong - Pepsi Throwback is delicious - it just rolls down the throat. However, it is still off a beat from the Mexican Coke made with cane sugar which is readily available in Houston, I can drink the cane sugar Coke all day long and feel just great. Maybe Pepsi should market its Natural all cane sugar nation-wide and put a disclaimer on Pepsi Throwback that it can cause gastritus.

Few reasons:

- I think beverages in glass taste better
- We don't know much about Aluminum and Plastics and effects they have on us.
- If we go back to glass we can return bottles for refilling rather than recycle which is such a waste when we barely even touch the bottles.
- They look better in your beverage center

Now, all of these could be because I'm just some neurotic crazy dude... ;)

Pepsi is producing a "Mountain Dew THROWBACK" (along with "Pepsi Throwback") for a limited time. It's basically a very similar recipe but with real sugar instead of HFCS. Its quite good. Go find it in grocery stores and convenient stores now!

Annenyc,

I just bought another 24-pack from Costco and it still has "sugar" listed... I hope they don't change it to HFCS.

Does anyone have the 411 on whether Mexican Coca-Cola is changing it's ingredients? The last one I bought at a bodega had a label slapped on by the distributor which says the ingredients contain corn syrup?!??! My friend says she can taste that it doesn't...dunno.
