If you are looking for an inexpensive way to get a portable navigation system, Garmin is going to be releasing the GPS 18 soon. It’s a GPS sensor bundled with nRoute software that lets you turn your laptop PC into a powerful street navigation tool. The nRoute software is bundled with detailed MapSource City Select map data of the entire United States and metropolitan areas in Canada. The system offers turn-by-turn auto-routing and voice prompt navigation to virtually any address, and features more than five million points of interest including gas stations, restaurants, hotels, and attractions. The 12-parallel channel, WAAS-enabled GPS 18 receiver is available in either a serial or USB connection. The receiver includes an integrated magnetic base and is less than three inches in diameter. It will be available in June for $162.49 (MSRP).
