Carl Zeiss Lens Coming To Camera Phones

This post is for those of you that use your camera phone on a regular basis and wish you had a better quality lens. Dialog Semiconductor, which specializes in solutions for the mobile communications market, needed the optics expertise from Zeiss. They worked out an agreement and now they are developing a camera module with a high quality image sensor and integrated image processor. “As a result of its three-element lens and extremely aspheric surfaces, the lens is extremely small, with dimensions smaller than the size of a pea, and producing a very high image quality.” No exact date on when we will see phones with this technology, but they will begin volume delivery of the first camera modules “soon”.
