Niveus 200 DVD Changer for Windows Media Center 2005, Rollup 2

Niveus announced that they will be selling a 200 disc DVD changer that will connect via firewire (I’ll bet these are Powerfile changers, rebranded or something) to any Windows Media Center 2005 with Rollup 2, which enables the “My DVDs” feature within the Windows Media Center interface. Very cool! A DVD jukebox that you can control and view thru your MCE.
The “My DVDs” feature provides an on-screen movie poster guide, much like the “My Movies” add-on does, for each of the movies stored on the device, allowing users to access their DVD collection through the same familiar interface used to access the rest of their digital media. Users simply click the poster of the movie they choose to view, and the Niveus Disc Changer delivers the content to the Niveus Media Center. Each Niveus Disc Changer can support 200 discs and can be coupled with additional changers to support a DVD library well beyond a thousand discs.
The Niveus Disc Changer will begin shipping in November via select Audio/Video Retailers and Dealers, so keep an eye out for pricing via their website. I expect it to retail for around $500… or at least that’s what I’m hoping for.
P.S. I’m also hearing that you won’t be able to watch the DVD video thru an extender (XBOX 360, etc)… something about DRM or media rights. That sucks if true!
