We just launched the updated ABC Full Episode Player. This player includes vast usability and performance improvements which were addressed mostly from user feedback during the three month trial. Besides the technical improvements the amount of shows has also increased — Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Six Degrees, Ugly Betty, The Nine, and The Knights of Prosperity are all available online, for free! Hope you guys think it’s as great as we do…

I’ve been having problems with the player lately. It says the ad data is unavailable therefore it is unable to play the episode. I heard it had something to do with sponsorship?

Weird thing is the epidose was functional on my hope PC. All in all great product just wish it would be back online.

ever since the new full episode launcher was launched on ABC, now the only way to view their shows, i have been unable to view any episodes of any of the shows. the audio is fine but i can’t see the video. i have sent several emails to the help and feedback buttons but i have had no response. can anyone help? i’m using ie7 as my browser. thank you

I too use to be able to watch all the abc shows. Since you have I guess improved the player I no longer can watch any of the shows. I to have emailed abc and got nothing from them. They need to go back to the old way. I am very unhappy. I have tried everything to get it to load and it says that it has loaded, but I get nothing.

I’m having the same problem with being unable to run or launch the new program. I hate missing the only two television shows I like (Grey’s and Housewives). Like Sandy, etc… have complained, I get no response from ABC. I wasn’t even able to get close with Firefox. AOl looked like it would work, but nothing ever happened. Please help. -Dorothy

I tried to download the latest version of ie on my PC at work, but there is something wrong with the file. But the site said that I should be able to watch on the latest version of firefox,. But I have the latest on my Mac at home and it isn’t working :(
I can see the page but it is like there is theis semi transparent layer over it and I can’t click on anything!
Very frustrating

I, too am unable to get the ABC site to work. I’ve sent several emails to ABC with nothing but the form-letter reply. Does anyone know how too make this work? Last season I had no trouble viewing shows online, this season so far I am not able to make it work. Any ideas anyone….Thanks, Sue

I’m desperate too - why doesn’t this work??? do I have to get a new computer - I’ve watched the shows before - so now what????

Posted by Sue at November 1, 2007 2:25 PM

Hey all
I’ve been searching online and I found a fix for the problem many of us seem to be having. It seems to stem from Norton Internet Security. I hope this helps people. Here’s what to do. Open the Norton Internet Security Console, go to the Norton Anti-Spam tab, and turn OFF ad-blocking. Once I did this, the player installed and worked without difficulty.

I have tried everything - java console changes, add blocker, security blockers, etc…

ABC video used to look beautiful and was SO EASY TO USE! What have they gone and done?

I hate this? You can’t even buy their shows from Amazon Unbox…

doomed, doomed…

I am not able to view any of my shows as well. There is not information on how to install the player. When it says to launch the player it does not do anything when I click on it. I think your ratings will go down if you do not go back the way you had it. A lot of people work and can’t view their shows until later online. Looks like I am not the only one having trouble. Please help.

Posted by Mark at December 17, 2007 4:13 PM

My problem is a bit different. I loaded the player and could see the full length shows for a few days. But then last week I started getting the Only Viewers in the US Can Watch Full Length Episodes message. The thing is, I’m in Virginia about 12 miles from the Washington Monument - connecting through COX Cable.

Why does it think I”m overseas, and what can I do to fix it????

Thanks

I have tried everything to get this player to work, but nothing has helped. I used to watch shows all the time but now no matter what I click on nothing is there….I have searched to find the answer to this problem. HELP!!

Posted by patricia at December 30, 2007 6:41 AM

I have tried everything, why cant ABC fix their problem!
Very unhappy with this!

Posted by John at February 3, 2008 7:56 AM

I was able to find this web site after encountering similar problems already discussed, and was able to manually download and install the abc media player. Now it works.

I can watch but it plays for a few seconds, then pauses for at least twice that long, then plays for a few seconds more and over again. They suggested disabling my anti-virus. I did and it did not help.

Posted by Jane at April 23, 2008 12:42 PM

I never had a problem watching abc full episodes. I finally got the player to load, but once the opening ad is finished the screen freezes, and I can’t start the show. I have tried evrything. What is the problem?

Posted by Vickie at April 24, 2008 4:55 PM

I have the same problem as Jane. The commercial finishes and I “click to continue” and it never loads or plays. I’ve done every thing they said to do, but can’t get it to play. Why can’t we get any answers! When we go digital, I won’t be getting TV out where I live (and it’s not that far from the stations - digital stinks). I know several other people who have no problem watching the episodes……

Hey Folks… please use this form to report all issues with the ABC Full Episode Player.

Thanks,
Danny

I do not understand why ABC will not fix the problem with their episode player. I can’t get it to work.

Posted by Jon at May 1, 2008 4:40 PM

I was having similar problems to everyone else here and saw a solution on another website that worked: load Firefox (free browser) and the player works fine. www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox

Posted by Mike at May 3, 2008 6:46 PM

having the same problem. I have mozilla and it does work there. I have internet explorer 7 no luck daughter has ie6 works fine seems like the problem is in ie7

Posted by Sophie at May 5, 2008 1:56 PM

i do not understand why this does not work on my computer
i have installed the player numerous times

Posted by jason at May 19, 2008 12:17 AM

I don’t know why you’d write ABC about this when Move Networks is the group responsible for the player. ABC hasn’t written me back after I’ve written them 3 times. Move Networks responded but their answers have gotten me nowhere closer to viewing their awful player.

I get the “Loading…” page and I’ve done everything to reinstall, turn off phishing and internet blockers/filters, it’s just getting me nowhere. The companies representing the software can’t even help us.

I tried the link that John posted on February 3rd and it also worked for me…it seems to be link to the ABC’s news station where they still have the old Episode player available….works for me!

I hate this new player. The old one worked just fine!!! Go back to the old one! i work two jobs and i hate missing my favorite shows. So i look foward to watching them online with no commercials just 30 sec ads. Why cant you fix the problem.. i mean there was nothing wrong with the old player to begin with… dont try and fix something that isnt broken!!! VERY UPSET!!!

Posted by Kevin at September 26, 2008 9:14 PM

I agree with them all.
The ABC full episodes website is not working. I can not watch any of the shows. It is working but it skips everytime I watch any of the shows. The sound is fine but i can’t see the show. I could hear the show fine only if I go to a blank page without closing the show website. Then it won’t skip but i can’t watch it but I could hear it fine. Can you fix the website? thank you

Posted by Heather at September 27, 2008 5:27 AM

i also have been having problems with this new player as i used to watch it for my favorite episodes. but since the new player launch i have been unable to watch the episodes. after the commercial, there is no button to go to the show. im not sure why but im quite irritated and unhappy with it.

Posted by Diane at September 30, 2008 10:10 PM

I am also having problems with the new full episode player. Everything works great except for when I click on a show, the box that it should play in goes black and nothing ever starts. I went to the help page and it took me to the Move Network page. There they had a video playing which worked fine. So in theory the episode player should also work fine…but it doesn’t!!!

Posted by mat at October 1, 2008 5:42 PM

NEW PLAYER DOES NOT WORK…and no one will help. Where are their techical lines?

Posted by Sarah at October 1, 2008 6:33 PM

Do you think it has to do with the updated internet browsers?? I recently upgraded both Mozilla and Explorer, and now the abc player is not working :(

Posted by Amy at October 2, 2008 7:56 AM

I too have had issues this last week. I have had two different IT people look at it and can’t figure it out. My error says The player encountered an error code parser. I’ve tried several computers in office, all do the same. My older computer at home pulls it up but hard to view due to age. Ok you computer buffs, whats going on. I’m missing Lost! It must be something in this new player that isn’t compatible.

Posted by Kim S. at October 2, 2008 8:48 AM

FIX!! I use Mac and XP and neither of them work. I used the link that I found on this comment page to open the OLDER version of the ABC Player and found that it worked for me. Hope it helps you! http://www.myeyewitnessnews.com/content/abcplayer/default.aspx

Posted by Katie at October 3, 2008 9:32 AM

“FIX” - agreed. The above link from Kim worked for me by opening up the old player. The new player never showed anything but a black screen for me.

So disappointing, I used to rave to everyone about ABC and their player. :(

Posted by Elisabeth at October 4, 2008 12:44 PM

Thank you, Kim! I keep getting the Parser error on the new player and have had no luck with help from ABC, either. Hopefully they fix the problem soon. Thanks again!

Posted by mary at October 4, 2008 6:25 PM

I used th browser above but it only contains the old episodes. I don’t understand why they changed it. I sent a message to ABC but they only responded with they can’t respond to all their mail. Lots of help there. Any Ideas? I have vista.

Posted by Caely at October 5, 2008 5:04 PM

What do I do once I open http://www.myeyewitnessnews.com/content/abcplayer/default.aspx
It brings me to the page but I dont see anything to click.

Posted by lauren at October 6, 2008 3:03 PM

Also having problems getting the darn thing to play. Why did they have to mess with a good thing?

Posted by anj at October 6, 2008 7:00 PM

I complained last week as well and am now using the old player link - thank you! I just don’t understand why the lack of response from either company? Wouldn’t you want as many fans as possible to see your shows?

Posted by Giusbyte at October 9, 2008 2:16 PM

I just tried and that annoying parser error is GONE.

Posted by trc@fitzpatrickcocpas.net at October 9, 2008 4:21 PM

the parser error is gone but now it just spins like it’s loading and nothign happens!!

Posted by Sandy at October 9, 2008 8:05 PM

I watched episodes just fine over the summer with my computer. However, I too have the problem of viewing a commercial but nothing further. I don’t get the familiar button to “click to continue.” Same automatic response as everyone else. What is going on?

Posted by Lorraine at October 11, 2008 9:37 AM

The player launches, plays the sponsor ads then just freezes there. Pleas help. I’m missing all my shows.

Posted by Peggy Alexander at October 11, 2008 3:28 PM

“invalid package URL
check your interent connection and try later” is the message I receive when I try to download the full episode player from ABC. I have tried everything I know and nothing has worked.
After reading all the messages here, I surmize there are poltergiest in the mix:) Any suggestions?

Posted by Lonely Tourist at October 12, 2008 3:32 AM

Has anyone found a fix for this yet? I’ve written ABC about it once already and just finished a second email that went to webmaster@abc.com (I believe the first email went to the Full Episode people…Move?). I’ve tried the old ABC link listed above but am still having problems with stalling video and audio. This is extremely annoying as I’d like to watch Pushing Daisies like last year. What has changed since then? I tried both Firefox and IE, checked my Internet speed, turned Norton and ZoneAlarm off, reinstalled the full episode software….what’s left?
