Zune Expansion Port Protocol?

Related Entries: Hacks & Mods

Has Microsoft or anybody released the Zune Expansion Port pinout/protocol? I’m particularly interested in the control and metadata (title/author) display protocol. I’d like to build an interface much like the Russound iBridge so I can control and display assets from the Zune to the whole house Russound CAV6.6 system. If anyone has any information please send it my way…

I have some information. The Zune is a pile.

I haven’t seen anything online. For now this must be confidential information only accessories companies who create “designed for Zune” products can have. In the future when Zune will start to open up to developers maybe we will see it available for everybody to use.

Of course Mike hates it - he’s still using Blockbuster for Christ’s sake: http://www.mikeindustries.com/blog/archive/2006/11/guaranteed-in-stock-debunked

;)

I ordered a Zune. I’ve never really liked the iPod, and after trying out a friend’s Zune I ordered one (should be here soon).

I was planning on getting the AV dock to hook into my home audio and TV.

Atta Boy Will! The Zune is becoming the Anti-iPod… Microsoft is playing the part of Apple (in terms of computer market share) and the iPod is playing the part of Microsoft. Weird. Talk about roll reversal.

Nice, maybe it will be anti-successful then. :)

I know this is a seriously old post, but on the off chance that anyone is still monitoring this, has anyone located the remote control protocols for the Zune as of yet? I’ve got an internal bluetooth hack going (works great), but I’ve been trying to find out what it would take to add remote control capability to the unit as well.
