Bang & Olufsen Beo5 Remote Control

Bang & Olufsen is now shipping their new Beo5 Remote Control. This remote is very unique, much like all B&O products, however it looks very usable. Check out their website for some videos which show the user interface (both touchscreen and button based) in action. I’m not 100% in love with the UI look and feel, but I applaud them on the industrial design. This remote can be programmed to control most any infrared device — which will be done for you at the store (nice touch). Expect to pay a premium for this remote, which has a set price of $560.

$560? Does it come with a home entertainment center?

@nate

It’s no worse than the $499 Logitech remote (that can be found cheaper than that btw), but at least it’s a one hand remote.

I’ll have to see/touch this one in person before I pass judgement. If it works with:

the pronto remote-style skins
RF & IR

this might just be worth the price.

Here’s the deal killer (from their website):

Can I configure Beo5 myself?

No. When you buy a Beo5, your Bang & Olufsen retailer will help you customise the remote control to match your specific Bang & Olufsen product setup. The retailer will also help you add logos of your favourite TV channels and make other individual settings according to your liking.

If your product setup changes, for example if you add new Bang & Olufsen products to your BeoLink system, your retailer has to make the changes in the configuration.
