Seinfeld Is Coming To DVD
<% rating = 5 %>
Folks, the wait is over, Seinfeld is coming to DVD on November 23, 2004. Columbia will be releasing episodes from the first three seasons on two four-DVD volumes as well as combined in a boxed gift set. Each volume will include about 12 hours of extra content and will list for $49.95. The gift set will retail for $119.95 and will include a limited-edition script, “Monk’s Diner” salt-and-pepper shakers, collectible playing cards and yada, yada, yada.UPDATE: These DVDs will look and sound better than ever. To provide the best picture and sound quality possible, Castle Rock Entertainment, which produced the show, returned to the original film elements and spent many months digitally remastering every episode in high definition; the original analog audio tracks went through a similar process. SEINFELD: Volume 1 includes all 18 episodes of seasons one and two on four discs and SEINFELD: Volume 2, also on four discs, includes all 22 episodes from season three. Each volume will
be loaded with approximately 12 hours of exclusive special features from the
creative talents behind the show, including a full-length documentary,
extensive creator, cast and production commentaries, bloopers, deleted scenes,
exclusive never-before-seen Jerry Seinfeld stand-up comedy footage and trivia
pertinent to each season. Both releases feature the original NBC network
versions, 1-2 minutes longer than the syndicated versions and not seen since
their original broadcast runs. Additionally, Volume 1 features two versions
of the original pilot episode.– CNN – Early ‘Seinfeld’ episodes coming to DVD

Mavromatic Now Has Future Proof URLs
It seems like the latest trend in blogging is to use future proof URLs. Well, I spent some time talking to Mike Davidson and a few other co-workers as to why I should actually make the change. It turns out that there isn’t a good reason to have file extensions. You will now notice that the urls here at mavromatic no longer have an extension. This will make it easier to switch over to a different server scripting language in the future and the URLs won’t break when accessing the site via a search engine. It also helps a tiny bit with security, by obscuring which language I’m using. I’m still not too keen on changing the urls from an entry id to the title with under_scores. I don’t see any real compelling reason as to why I should make that change… but if you do, I’d like to hear why…

User Ratings Added To Mavromatic
I didn’t think it was fair to only have my ratings for a product… so in addition to the “Mavromatic Rating”, I have added the ability for all you to rate the product or entry as well. This feature is still in “BETA”, since I don’t know how it will scale. All you need to do is mouse over the “Rate It” stars (located at the end of each entry) and click on which ever rating you think the post deserves. Once you submit your rating, it will be stored, averaged and displayed with all the other user ratings.

New Rating System At Mavromatic
A lot of other technology or gadget weblogs try to post as many things in one day as possible, many times they post about the exact same product or device without adding any commentary. What use is that? I’ve decided to add a “Mavromatic Rating” system that you can use to gauge how cool or useful I feel the post/device is.
Here is the handy gauge:
<% rating = 0 %>
You guessed it… the product was worth mentioning, but not worth your money.
<% rating = 1 %>
The device isn’t going to change the world, but might be worth checking out.
<% rating = 2 %>
Pretty cool, but there are other devices like it on the market that might be better.
<% rating = 3 %>
Worth considering, but don’t run to the store just yet.
<% rating = 4 %>
Buy it.
<% rating = 5 %>
I want one, now!
I’ll try my best to rate things correctly, but feel free to post a comment or two if you feel my rating about a product is jacked. This will hopefully get some useful commentary going. Anyways, I hope you are enjoying the site and if there is anything you’d like to see on Mavromatic that will make it more useful, feel free to drop me an email. Enjoy.

Send To A Friend and More…
I tend to shy away from posting announcements about MAVROMATIC, I’m more interested in talking about cool devices than updates to a site… but I couldn’t resist posting just this one. It has been almost two months since the first post and I’m proud to say that this has been a fun experience for me. I’m still tweaking and refining the site so bare with me at times… Moveable Type is a very powerful publishing system and it takes a bit to get it exactly how you want. You may have also noticed that I sold out to Google ads… yes, if I can earn some cash to defray the server costs, why not? Hopefully, Google is doing a good job with product specific ads so that they are more helpful and worth clicking. I also added a ‘Send to a friend’ link, so if you see a story worth forwarding to a friend, it’s just a click away. Well, that’s it for now… like always, if you have any comments feel free to post or email directly to me. Enjoy.

Redesigned mavromatic
I’m pretty new to this whole blogging stuff, I hope you like the new look and feel of mavromatic. The first version was a direct rip-off of engadget… they were my inspiration to start this site and felt that I probably shouldn’t copy their site design exactly. Enjoy.
