Comcast HD-DVR Disables Fast-Forward?

One of lost remote’s readers sent them a couple screen grabs from their Comcast HD-DVR. The problem? The darn unit wouldn’t let him fast-forward thru the commercials while it played back American Idol. This could be a fluke, but if Comcast is deliberately doing this, we all might need to pull that old VHS recorder out from the basement. What’s the point of “time shifting” when you can’t fast-forward thru commercials. They (networks and cable providers) need to figure out a better way to get paid for advertisements. Maybe we will no longer see ads during our programs but instead we see them before, after and while we are scheduling recordings… almost like DVDs, where they make you watch certain parts (legal, trailers, etc).
