Cool Tool: Exergen Temporal Artery Thermometer

We had our newest member of the Mavromatis family born on 3.2.11 and while we were in the hospital I asked the nurse which thermometer she recommended.  Her recommendation was for one of the temporal artery types.  So I ordered the Exergen 2000C Temporal Artery Thermometer from and it arrived today.  It is a very cool tool and after a few different subjects (myself, my wife and my daughters) it reads very accurate temperatures pretty much instantly.   The case design is simple and plain, but was very surprised to find out that it is “Made In U.S.A.”.   I guess the only “features” to mention is that is has a LCD screen, takes 1,000 readings per second, and has a “Silver Ion Antimicrobial Probe Head”.  Priced at around $34, this is a MUST HAVE for any household with kids where keeping them still is almost impossible.  The Exergen 2000C Temporal Artery Thermometer is Mavromatic’s Cool Tool for March 2011!

Panasonic 360 Quick Iron: Double Sided Iron

Panasonic’s 360 Quick Iron claims up to 25% faster ironing due to its double sided pointy edges.  After looking at this iron for a bit, this should have been the original design when the first iron was invented.  The traditional flat back side really doesn’t serve a purpose other than needing it to sit the iron upright.    The Panasonic 360 model allows you to get into the tight areas like collars and cuffs without the need to turn the iron or yourself around.  This goes to show you that you can reinvent things that have been around for a long time.  Kudo’s to Panasonic!

The Panasonic 360 Quick Iron line ranges from $80 – $40 and are available at

    Zeo Personal Sleep Coach

    zeo sleep coach

Since having a baby both my wife and I feel like we don’t get the quality of sleep we once used to — go figure.  Wonder if the Zeo Personal Sleep Coach can fix that.   Here’s how the Zeo works… you wear the the headband to sleep, the headband sends the data wirelessly to the display unit.  Then you can monitor your sleep patterns on the unit or for further analysis you can transfer the data via SD card to your computer and using the software provided you can look at graphs and history in greater detail.

Zeo Personal Sleep Coach costs $399 which includes the headband with SoftWave™ sensor pad and the Zeo bedside display w/SmartWake.  The package also includes 6-months of sleep coaching.  You can order it at Zeo’s website and has a 30-day money-back guarantee.…

Burt’s Bees Natural Products – Orange Essence Facial Cleanser & Rosemary Mint Shampoo Bar

A good friend of mine, Troy D., brought Burt’s Bees to my attention years before they were bought by Clorox. However, the company still operates in the best interest of the customer and uses only natural (healthy) ingredients in their products.    The two products I use daily are the Rosemary Mint Shampoo Bar and the Orange Essence Facial Cleanser.   There is no reason that a guy should purchase conditioners and shampoo when a good ol’ shampoo bar does the trick.   Simply rub the bar directly on wet hair and work into a lather and bam, you have refreshing rosemary minty clean hair, plus, it’s 99.90% Natural (good enough for me).   I also use the Orange Essence Facial Cleanser and if you like oranges, you’ll LOVE this cleaner!  Since it’s 100% natural, you can also use it as an Ice Cream topping*.

If you are looking to try some new Grooming products then definitely try these two items!

Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser
Burt’s Bees Rosemary Mint Shampoo Bar With Oat Protein and Pro Vitamin B5, 3.5-Ounce Bars

    * Even though it is 100% natural, it is not recommended that you consume this cleanser.…

    Zeno: Zap Your Zits Away

Zeno_hr.jpgTeens these days have it good… XBOX 360 with crazy realistic graphics, DVR’s so they never miss a show or waste time watching commercials, iPods — no rewinding or fast-forwarding, girls their age dressing like Britney Spears (who has taken her place?) and now for their zits (properly know as Acne), they no longer need to Oxycute them, nooooo, they just need to ZenoZap them! Tyrell, Inc, are the inventors of Zeno, the acne clearing device. It is a hand-held, portable electronic medical device that uses heat (119

    Tingle while you shower

This has nothing to do with geeky technology, but man, this stuff rocks. If you are getting bored of your leading brand shampoo, definitely pick up some Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Shampoo from your local barber. This stuff gives your scalp a tingling, stimulating, energizing clean feeling.
