Record Web Radio Stations, Legally?

With all the legal issues about sharing, ripping and burning music… now a company called Applian Technologies has created a product called, “Replay Music“. It’s software program that allows you to capture music from pretty much any Web radio station (Rhapsody, Napster, Music Match Radio, Radio@Netscape, Yahoo Launch, AOL Radio, Shoutcast, etc), and tag it with track information for playback later. Using proprietary MoodLogic song recognition technology, Replay Music identifies each song after it’s recorded, and adds the artist and song name information to each MP3 file. The program runs on any Windows PC and the full version can be purchased online for $29.95… they also offer a free demo version for those of you that want to try out the MoodLogic technology. Oh, I should also mention that the website claims this is a legal way to steal, er… I mean, capture music… here’s a link to their legal FAQ.

  • Has anybody figured out how to use the auto-tag feature with AOL Radio? I downloaded the latest version of replay and it records fine, but it won't recognize any songs. Is there some weird setting? Thanks!
