To get this kind of form factor in the past, you'd need to shell out mega bucks for a Crestron or PHAST controller/automation system. Universal Remote's MX-3000 has taken that popular form factor and turned it into an IR/RF remote. This is like the MX-600 but has a 3.8" color LCD screen and is loaded with features like a sound recorder, so you can add talking help buttons for the less techy family members. They really thought this remote thru, a common problem with LCD remotes is the lack of hard buttons, they have a bunch of them on the MX-3000, these can be programmed for common tasks and accessed with a quick button press. Customization can made with their free editor software, making each task as intuitive as you'd like. The Home Theater Master® MX-3000 retails for $999.95.

With the DVJ-X1, we can no longer say that video killed the radio star. Pioneer is taking traditional DJing to the next level with the DVJ-X1 digital video turntable. The DJV-X1 can playback DVDs, CDs, and VCDs so real-time digital video scratches, loops and instant cues can be made while the audio and video stays in perfect sync, even when they're being reversed. Now a DJ (or DJV, as Pioneer is calling them) can not only control the audio but the video experience, paving for a new era of entertainment at clubs and parties.

Could this be the best A/V integrated receiver to date? I'm thinking so... Pioneer has done good with the VSX-59TXi, one of the key new features is the playback capability of Windows Media Audio 9 Professional encoded media. This makes hooking up your HTPC and playing back WMVHD files a cinch. All you need to do is plug the USB cable to your computer and you can start enjoying true 6-channels of audio. The 59TXi still has the i.LINK digital interface for firewire connectivity as well as all the inputs and outputs you'll ever need. It meets LucasFilm's THX® Ultra2 certification and all the other digital decoding formats common with high-end receivers. The remote was updated, a much needed update, it's now more like a Phillips Pronto.

This flagship unit is loaded with updates, one more notable update is the advanced version of their Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration Circuit (MCACC), it identifies and evaluates each speakers frequency response and it even provides PC connectivity so that graphic representations of your room’s unique acoustic signature can be visually seen. Aiding in where the most calibration should be applied. This receiver should definitely be on your wish list.

The folks over at CorAccess have been doing it right from the start. Slick, intuitive, fast user interfaces and great looking touchscreen panels is want we all want in a home automation control panel. Their Companion line interfaces perfectly with HAI's OmniPro controller panels and can be used to control lighting, HVAC, security, media controller, and as a picture viewer. The interfaces can be customize with Macromedia's Flash authoring tool... Very cool! I hope to get a demo unit and write a review as soon as I get my OmniPro II installed and setup.
