I get the feeling that this Satellite Radio business is picking up. I'm starting to see more and more products as well as automobile companies offering the products installed at the factory. I came across yet another product... the PlayDockXM. It is being introduced by both XM Satellite Radio and Cambridge SoundWorks and it's the first portable system for the Delphi XM Roady radio. The system will be available this summer with a suggested retail price of $199.99. Here's a fun fact for ya... Did you know that XM Radio offers more than 120 digital radio channels from coast to coast? Yup, they do.

Burn Dual Layer DVD with Toast 6

Electronics
May 11, 2004 No Comments
toast6.jpgI might be wrong here... but when I went to check out DVD Studio Pro 3's specs, I didn't see anything about being able to burn dual layer DVDs with Pioneers new drive. Maybe because Apple doesn't currently offer the drives in their machines? Well for those of you early adopters, Roxio announced today that its Toast 6 line of software will soon be DVD Double Layer (DL) compatible, allowing Mac users to take advantage of this exciting technology for the first time (maybe Apple will follow). There have been reports that dual burning is slow, like a 1x-2x DVD burner. If your producing a feature film, or want to archive your home movies on fewer DVDs, then it may be worth the approx. 45 min wait. It will be a free update to registered Toast 6 Titanium (PC) and Toast with Jam 6 (MAC) sometime in June.

att.gif According to survey results announced today by AT&T, 88 percent of respondents, if limited to just one communications device, would stick to the telephone over email, voicemail, instant and text messaging, Blackberry devices as well as the United States Postal System. So for those of you that think it's not worth having a telephone, this report makes you sound like an idiot.

TV on Your Wrist

This is all we need, now we can sit on our asses and watch TV pretty much anywhere, anytime. However, I don't know how useful or desirable it is with the lack of a built-in TiVo. NHJ USA announced the launch of the V@mp ‘VTV-101’, a wearable TV Watch. This tiny portable TV which weighs only 55g uses innovative technology including a sharp TFT LCD display screen (280x220 pixels), built-in Sony TV tuner, and stereo earphones which function as the TV’s antenna. Don't except to get MTV on the road, the TV tuner can only receive channels VHF 1-12 and UHF 13-62. The 'VTV-101' features a Li-Ion rechargeable battery so that it can be kept powered up easily, and also comes with a docking bay charger which can be used without removing the batteries from the case giving you about 2.5-3 hours of pure watching enjoyment. The V@mp 'VTV-101' TV watch will be available first from the catalogue house Hammacher Schlemmer from the middle of May, and is expected to retail for around $199.99.

64-Slice Whole Body Scanner

Siemens today released the world’s first clinical images of the carotid arteries acquired using the SOMATOM Sensation 64 computed tomography system (sounds like a supercomputer, 'cause it is), which takes 64 “slices” of the human anatomy, delivering unprecedented diagnostic detail in less than 10 seconds. “Imaging of this quality, sharpness and speed gives us the opportunity to study the human anatomy at a level that has only been dreamt about,” said Prof. Dr. Bautz, Institute of Diagnostic Radiology, the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, where the images were acquired. They don't list a price for this on their website which means it costs more than your little G5.
