Quick Video Review: GoPro LCD BacPac For HD Hero

Electronics, Videos

I just received the GoPro LCD BacPac for the HD Hero and thought I would post a quick and dirty video review of the unit. For the most part it’s exactly what I expected it to be. It adds very little to the thickness of the camera but adds quite a bit of functionality. I found it especially useful when you modify the camera settings. The screen allows you to frame your shots better and lets you monitor the battery life as well. I took my HD Hero to Hawaii and would have loved to be able to playback video of the surfs and our fun at the beach. Now it’s possible with the LCD BacPac since it also features a built in speaker. The screen is decent — we’re all very spoiled with the Retina display of the iPhone 4 — it’s no where near that quality but it does the job. Priced at $79, I feel it’s well worth it. I say, if you own a HD Hero, you must get the LCD BacPac… you must!

P.S. Just remember to update your firmware first.

Lots has been going on over the past few weeks… final PCB designs have been sent out for production. A new product web site is reaching completion leaving final assembly and testing left before I can start shipping the Myro:Bridge (that is going to be the final name). As promised, I have a video of the newest firmware which offers Russound RNET to Apple iTunes control. This is like the Russound RNET to Sonos except that you can pair, control and get metadata two and from Russound Keypads via iTunes. Enjoy!

CES 2010 Video – Samsung MyFit

CES, Videos
January 8, 2010 10 Comments

Here is a great little gadget for the neurotic hypercondriacs like myself.  The Samsung MyFit is more than just an MP3 player.  This little device tells you how to stay fit and healthy.   In the video you can see it check my stress level (it was “very good”) and even can tell you your melanin level (I was 175 due to my Greekness).   But that’s not all, it can even tell you how fat you are… by serving up your BMI index.   This little gadget is so feature packed you’ll burn calories just navigating it.

There is no release date or price yet… however, this will definitely be on my gadget wish list.

Barnes & Noble Nook – The Unboxing!

Cool Tools, Electronics, Videos
January 4, 2010 No Comments

I finally got the Barnes & Noble Nook in my hands and here is the live unboxing.  It was a challenge but was well worth it!  The fit and finish on the Nook is exactly what I expected.  Like others have mentioned, the UI needs some refinement and optimization but for a v1 product, I’m extremely happy with it.  I will load up my PDF’s (SDK and technical docs) and report back my experiences…

P.S. Sorry about the poor production on the video… I got lazy and tried out the Flipcam I bought my wife for Christmas.   If you like the “rawness” of the Flip videos, I can do more of these types of posts as they are a lot easier to create than the edited ones. Enjoy!
